Organic Fashion

You may not realize it, but the cotton clothing you purchase is dependent on herbicides and pesticides. Conventional cotton is grown using approximately 16% pesticides. Being the most grown material in the world, cotton is also the most dependent on pesticides, cotton requires nearly 25% of all the pesticide used for any type of crop. You do have a choice by choosing organic clothing, clothing made from materials containing no herbicides or pesticides.

Scientists and farming families are now more than ever realizing just what sort of toll chemicals are taking on the environment. These chemicals are causing ground and water contamination as well as contaminating the farm water tables. It has been proven that pesticide drainage has caused fish and wildlife illnesses.

There are some colored cotton shades of brown, yellow and green that grows right on the stem. These earth tones are chemical free, however most commercial colored cotton purchased contains harmful chemicals and dyes. A benefit to natural color grown cotton is it will not fade and you can wash clothes in temperatures other than cold.

Eco Fibre, or recycled cotton has not had harsh chemicals used in them, making them eco friendly. Eco Fabric is becoming popular with clothing fashion consumers increasing demand for recycled cotton.

Organic fashion is becoming more popular every day. You can find several websites on the internet which offer all types of organic clothing for sale. This has caused organic farming to rise, and the price of organic cotton as well. These websites offer beach wear, bridal fashions, jeans and other types of leg wear, lingerie, street and sportswear; most of them are sold by name brand companies and famous designers, such as, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Rodan, Valentino, and many, many others. Most of the clothing is sold all over Europe; however, growers are trying very hard to get the United States more involved with organic farming. Every item of organic cotton has its own certification stating that it was made with no harmful chemicals, and that the fabric has never had any chemicals used during the dying process.

Hemp is another material that is becoming popular with organic farmers and hemp is becoming popular in everyday fabric choices and recycled jewelry. Bamboo is also popular as a fabric choice. Bamboo shirts are popular to wear for those with allergies to cotton and bamboo is also fast growing. As you can see there are other choices for organic fashion that do not include cotton.

Children will enjoy clothing ranging from a onesie to a dress and wooden toys are also available. Men can proudly wear jeans and T shirts. Women can enjoy comfortable dresses and tank tops. Organic fashion is not limited to clothing, eco friendly accessories including recycled toys, handbags, footwear and much more is also available.

Environmental awareness and knowing you are doing your part to protect the environment can be an uplifting experience. Just think of the compliments you will receive when wearing organic clothing to your next event. You can discuss with your friends the clothing you purchased and the steps you are taking to protect the environment and save the earth. You may be able to convince your friends and relatives to join the latest trend and invest in organic fashion.
